A quality inspection in which finished and packed goods are checked by sampling before shipment.

[01]

A pre-shipment inspection is carried out after production is complete and most of the goods are packed, before they leave the factory. Samples are usually selected at random using the AQL method.

It typically covers quantity, appearance and workmanship, dimensions, function tests, labelling and packaging. Depending on the result, goods are shipped, rework is requested or a re-inspection is scheduled.
